It is the result of an experiment in how to enhance the controllability and expressiveness in live coding performances that do not hinder the performer from typing the codes. There are always some limitations comparing to other forms of musical expression which are mainly related to responsiveness. It usually takes several seconds for a live-coder to change or write codes that modify sounds which is rather slow. In the performance of nootherthanthevoid, with the aid of the Electromyographic (EMG) sensors as well as pressure sensors attached to the laptop, the live coder can create immediate response to the sound. The data from the devices is directed to some control buses in SuperCollider which can be used on-the-fly can easily map to any sound and visual parameters.
