Code+Chords is a project blending computer science and music. Led by a group of undergraduates with backgrounds in computer science, engineering and music, the team is developing an open-source library for creating real time visual displays based on multiple vocal inputs. The project team has worked with a variety of performance groups - from professionals to high school students - to create visual experiences that complement the musical performance, exploring ways of using shape and color in response to the singers’ pitch and amplitude. The Code+Chords team has also worked with teenage women through the Code+Chords: Teen Tech program to use this software as a hands-on introduction to coding and music theory.
