Fragile Intersections by Javier Jaimovich & Francisca Morand
“Fragile Intersections” is a solo interactive performance developed around themes of identity and self-image, constructed by the subjective relationship of somatic processes, such as self-sensing while the performer navigates across a sound environment composed from her own multiplicity of corporeal elements. The performance is based on the capture of microphone, inertial and electromyography signals, which are mapped to an interactive sound system in real-time. The vocalizations and words are re-signified by mapping strategies, allowing the performer to fragment, distort and re-interpret her voice within an interactive and fluid sound environment that is affected by the performer’s gestures and presence.
